In my quest to diversify AccessTO and my palate I followed a co-worker's recommendation and visited Casa Manila. At the corner of York Mills and Don Mills, this Filipino restaurant is as authentic as they come. Based on an island theme, the space is bright and inviting, and the food is simple delicious. The fact that Casa Manila is also barrier-free made me almost want to hug owner, Mila, as she and her staff go out of their way to make your experience memorable.

The front door of Casa Manila is located off a sidewalk that can be accessed by a small ramp leading from the parking lot to the left. The entrance measures at 34 inches with no automatic door opener available.

Once inside, the washrooms are quickly visible to the left. A 31 inch swinging door leads you to separate male and female washrooms with accessible stalls in each. Each stall is 70x50 inches, however only the female washroom has grab bars to assist. Floating sinks and a change table is available.

The layout of the restaurant is refreshing with wide walkways and many standard height tables (28 inches) to accommodate any mobility device. There are no level changes within the whole dining area with smooth tiling throughout.

Casa Manila is located in a small strip plaza that offers free parking in the front and the back of the restaurant. Accessible spots available! There is also a sidewalk level patio that will be available when Spring decides to visit Toronto.

PS. Do not leave without trying Casa Manila's popular Halo Halo dessert- try finding it anywhere else in the city!
