Located in the heart of Hogg's Hollow at York Mills and Yonge, Miller Tavern is a stand out in the community.  Much of the charm comes from the historical landmark that the restaurant is in dating back to 1860. Usually when I come across a historic building, accessibility is an issue, but this lovely tavern has retrofit much of its space to accommodate almost anyone.

Although the building does not have an elevator to access the two floors, there are several entrances from the parking lot and sidewalk to allow entry to both levels. From Yonge St. the restaurant is accessed by the iron gate which is left open. Here you enter the large patio and are greeted by the friendly staff. Hands down, the most impressive feature of the Miller Tavern is the large private patio and glass enclosed heated veranda that offers unlimited seating year round. If you are entering from the parking lot, there are double doors that allow entry into the restaurant. This door as well as the one from the veranda into the restaurant is 32 inches wide and has automatic buttons! Oh, and they work :)

Accessible washrooms are available on both floors, but the single room located on the second floor (I am considering the dining area from the parking lot the first floor) is a better option for anyone with a mobility device. The door measures at 34 inches, there is one grab bar, automatic toilet and sink and unobstructed use of sink. If you are dining on the first level, the accessible stall is found inside a multi-stall washroom with a communal sink.

Parking: free! Lot is found behind the tavern off of Yonge St. There are two wheelchair accessible parking spaces. If taking public transit, York Mills subway station is a block north and is accessible.

If thinking of planning a group event or meeting, Miller Tavern also offers two private spacious rooms. Call to inquire!
