Located at the corner of Yonge & Gerrard next to Scaddabush, Reds Midtown is the new off shoot of Reds Wine Tavern, a previously reviewed restaurant by AccessTO. I applaud Reds for improving their accessibility in this new location with the addition of a barrier-free entrance, beautiful sidewalk patio, and private accessible washroom. I also applaud them for their excellent selection of 20 craft beers on tap and delicious variety of over 300 types of wine, heaven!

The accessible entrance located on Gerrard, features an automatic door opener for their 39" wide door. After entering through a second set of wide double doors, a gently sloped ramp will lead you to the main dining area. In the dining area you will find many standard height tables that are spaced fairly close together; this, and the dim lighting, may pose as a challenge for some. The southwest corner of the restaurant is not accessible as there is a large step leading to a few bar height tables, a shuffleboard table, and the Yonge/Gerrard entrance.

You can tell Reds is really trying to up their accessibility standards when you take a look at their clean private, 69" x 84" accessible washroom located at the back of the main dining area. This washroom has both an automatic door opener AND push lock button for the 39" door. The 30.5" high sink is clear of clutter in front. There are two grab bars, although I should note that the angled bar to the right of the toilet is quite high from the floor as it was placed right above the toilet paper dispenser.

If using transit, Dundas station is your closest accessible subway station. Paid parking is available at the Eaton Chelsea across the street.
