On the southwest corner of York Mills and Don Mills Rd, we discovered a new Italian restaurant that I am sure will be a welcome addition to the neighbourhood. With a large interior and spacious patio, Cucina 865 has plenty to offer their patrons.

Cucina 865 is located in a quiet plaza in front of two accessible parking spots. The main entrance has an automatic door opener for each set of double doors. Each door measures at 35 inches. Once indoors there are several seating options with the majority of tables measuring at standard height (29 inches). If looking for a private area for groups, Cucina 865 offers 2! Both of which can accommodate approx. 30 people. Me and Michael noted that the dining space to the left of the entrance had the widest pathways to allow more room for mobility devices. Throughout the whole restaurant, pathways range from 25-40 inches wide.

The washrooms are located at the very back of the restaurant with one separate accessible room. The door width is 35 inches and total space inside is approx. 75x75 inches. There is an automatic dryer and paper towel dispenser. The sink measures 30 inches from the ground but there is a slight obstruction underneath. There are 2 grab bars present, but the one above the toilet is a mere inch above the tank which made it difficult to reach around. There is a change table also present inside the large space.

We both decided to dine on the accessible patio which provided enough space for comfortable conversation but the single central leg of the table obstructed entry of a wheelchair underneath. Music is kept low throughout the day and although we did not dine indoors, it was extremely well lit. Regarding trasportation, if not driving to Cucina 865, we recommend taking the 95 bus from the accessible York Mills subway station. It is a short 10 minute ride!

Try to visit on a Friday or Saturday night as there is live piano music from 7-9:30pm. Overall, great food and customer service!
