De Frantic Monkey Café Bar is a charming, and creative, independent coffee shop located in the heart of Little Italy. The cafe has been open for three months, and in that short time it has made a name for itself on its turmeric smoothies and lattes, as well as its fresh, healthy paninis.

Tables with removable seating

The entrance is level and barrier free. The front door is 34 inches wide, and has automatic features. Upon entering the cafe, there are various seating options including 30-inch tables with removable seating. The ordering bar and display cases (showcasing paninis, scones, wraps, and various other treats) are 36 inches in height.

Toilet with grab bars

A 38-inch wide hallway leads to the large, impeccably clean, accessible, all gender bathroom. The bathroom has automatic light and door features, as well as a 25-inch horizontal grab bar above the toilet and a L shaped grab bar on the right wall beside it. The sink is 30 inches in height, with clearance space below and lever handles. The soap and paper towel dispensers are at 43 and 41 inches respectively, located on either side of the sink.

The closest accessible transit route is the 63 Ossington bus, which stops at College and Ossington. Depending on the time of day there is street parking available, as well as a large lot with accessible parking spaces one block away at College and Shaw. Alternatively, the nearest Green P is located at 157 Beatrice Street, about a 5-minute walk, or roll, to the cafe.

Ordering bar, and view towards the front door

While sipping on a delicious coffee, I had the opportunity to speak with the owner. Her passion was clear and abundant. In designing the cafe she prioritized accessibility, and her attention to detail shines through. We hope that you get a chance to stop by and try out their menu yourselves, and don’t forget to leave a comment about your experience below.
